About Fireworks
Fireworks AI is a startup that builds fast and affordable AI inference infrastructure to run and fine-tune open-source AI models in production.
The company was founded in late 2022, around the time ChatGPT went live. Lin Qiao and a group of former Meta engineers who’d built PyTorch decided that enterprises needed a better way to deploy AI (not just research it).
Qiao had spent years at Meta watching the shift from CPUs to GPUs and saw firsthand how many companies wanted to use AI but lacked the infrastructure and know-how to make it work at scale.
Its core business is an inference (AI speed and response) platform that lets developers run open models quickly and inexpensively. It also offers software tools for customizing those models for various use cases.
It’s now one of the more credible challengers in the inference space, going up against players like Together AI and Replicate with its eyes on the bigger neocloud providers.
The company is headquartered in Redwood City, California.
Here’s an interview by Fireworks CEO Lin Qiao with NVIDIA CEO Jensen Huang:

Valuation
The latest confirmed Fireworks AI valuation is $17.5 billion based on the July 2026 Series D funding round that raised $1.5 billion.
IPO Potential
Fireworks is growing rapidly, going from a $500 million valuation to more than $17 billion in just two years.
Annualized recurring revenue surpassed $1 billion in July 2026.
Young companies growing quickly tend to stay private longer as their investors and founders often prefer private growth without the constraints of being a public company.
That said, going public in a hypergrowth phase is better than waiting until maturity, as Wall Street applies a premium to accelerating revenue and approaching profitability.
CEO Lin Qiao has not yet (as of July 2026) been forthcoming about corporate ambitions.
An S-1 filing is the most accurate sign that an IPO may be forthcoming. The intent to move forward with an IPO is usually leaked to the press long before the S-1 filing becomes available to the public.
How to Invest in Fireworks Stock
Fireworks is a venture-backed startup with high demand for private access by top-tier venture capital firms.
With a well-connected pedigree of Silicon Valley veterans in Redwood City, retail investors can easily miss out on investment opportunities.
Here are some potential options to own Fireworks stock before, during, and after the IPO.
1. Invest Pre-IPO
Pre-IPO investment platforms may offer Fireworks stock (usually via SPV shares) for purchase as employees or early investors seek to sell some of their shares before the Fireworks IPO.
Accredited investors may access shares, provided they are registered on the platform and receive notifications about their availability.
Monitor pre-IPO investing platforms such as Augment, EquityZen, Forge Global, and Clarity for share availability.
If shares become available, expect to pay at least a $10,000 investment minimum, often more.
Non-accredited investors can invest in pre-IPO companies via venture capital funds targeted at retail investors.
2. Participate in the Fireworks IPO through a broker
When a company eventually goes public, ordinary investors can sometimes buy the stock during the IPO at the IPO price.
In previous years, only Wall Street’s best customers could invest in IPOs. But retail access to IPOs is improving, and investors may have an opportunity to access the IPO through participating discount brokers.
Some online brokers (like the ones listed below) allow investors to invest in IPOs for free, even if they have limited funds in their accounts.
Here’s the complete list of the best brokers for IPO investing to learn more about IPO access for retail investors.
3. Buy Fireworks stock after the IPO
Most ordinary investors will need to wait until after the IPO to invest.
Waiting for the IPO has advantages, such as access to more established financials after the first quarter of trading.
Pre-IPO investing typically has limited financials available to retail investors.
High-demand IPO companies can have exaggerated valuations at the open. Investors can benefit by attempting to get IPO access at the IPO price to profit.
But after inflated openings, stock prices often fall. So it’s imperative that retail investors avoid buying hot IPO after the open.
That said, stock price declines can be excellent entry points for recent IPO stocks if you’re a long-term investor.
However, the most disruptive companies may perform better over a decade, so patience is key.
Conclusion
Fireworks AI has built a credible position in the AI inference market. The company has reached $1 billion in ARR and is backed by a roster of venture capital firms and strategic tech investors.
That kind of progress and confidence in its execution signal that Fireworks is here to stay or an attractive acquisition target.
But this kind of growth and attention also means equity is tightly controlled and challenging for everyday investors to access.
At these valuation levels, we may see more access become available, especially if its growth continues at this pace.
For investors watching from the sidelines, the practical path forward involves patience: tracking pre-IPO marketplaces for occasional share availability or monitoring pre-IPO fund holdings to see whether a fund has added it.
Otherwise, aspiring investors must be patient and wait for the Fireworks AI IPO.
