Access IPOs is about helping ordinary investors find investable IPO opportunities.
In a recent article on RBD, I explained the reasons for spinning off the RBD IPO Access Newsletter to its own site.
IPO investing strayed from the core content of RBD, income investing. However, I found that with strategic preparation, getting in on IPOs is a way to add risk and return to an otherwise mundane portfolio.
Other eager investors seemed to share that investing philosophy and found my website as a place to learn more and connect with others. That’s what inspired giving this information its own home.
Thanks for being a part of the community!
Today I want to briefly highlight a few components of the new site to help you navigate your visits, and to give you a glimpse of what’s to come.
The Home Page is designed to be a one-stop-shop for both new and returning visitors. A lot of design work was put into it to optimize the user experience. You can click to just about any part of the website from that page as you scroll down.
Work your way down the page to find what you’re looking for. You’ll see convenient links to the blog, best brokers page, and the education category. Scroll toward the bottom where the five latest blog posts are highlighted.
List of Previous and Upcoming Loyal3 IPOs
Many readers and subscribers discovered this blog through the Loyal3 IPOs web page that was originally on RBD. The page tracks all the IPOs that have occurred on the Loyal3 platform, including the IPO price, current price and total gain or loss since the IPO. It has also served as a place to write about upcoming opportunities and any relevant news.
As Loyal3 provided IPO opportunities to investors through the platform, readers searching for more information often landed on the page. Thanks to those who stuck around!
That page will remain a place to track previous and upcoming opportunities. But when we finally start seeing new investable opportunities, those will likely be worthy of an email alert to subscribers or a blog post.
For the most update to date new and information, be sure to follow the Access IPOs Twitter Feed.
During IPO pricings the evenings before an initial offering, I would frequently update the Loyal3 IPOs page at the top. For similar future instances, I’ve added a live blog feature to quickly update on the fly. This will allow real-time commentary on the site, providing more in depth coverage than simply tweeting out 140 characters. Keep any eye out for the live blog feature during the next IPO event.
Upcoming Motif IPOs
The Upcoming Motif IPOs page has been updated for Access IPOs. We’re still waiting for the first Motif IPO deal to go through. From reader response to what I’ve written so far, these will surely be popular! Motif Investing is expected to let everyone in on the action, with a low minimum and exclusivity from their top-notch Wall Street partner.
According to the Wall Street Journal, IPO access will be exclusive for Motif Investing customers when J.P. Morgan is the lead underwriter.
Sign up with Motif Investing to be ready when the first deal hits! You don’t need to fund your account until you’re ready to invest. Though, I’ve been investing in regular stocks and motifs and been quite happy with the platform so far.
There’s an email list you can sign up for to let you know when an opportunity hits. It’s free to be on the list and requires only an email. Click here to subscribe. Scroll down to where it says Get IPO News From Motif and enter it there.
IPOs, in general, have slowed dramatically since the Square IPO. Once the sentiment picks up, I expect to see a backlog of IPOs enter the pipeline. Hopefully J.P. Morgan sends a lot of business the way of Motif Investing so we can all participate.
To read more about the deal, check out this article about the announcement.
To follow the IPO pipeline, you can use the article I wrote on research tools to track J.P. Morgan led IPOs. J.P. Morgan is a leading IPO underwriter. However, as of late, business has been slow. I always look at the S-1 filings at the SEC website to see who is underwriting each new IPO.
Seeing J.P. Morgan as the lead underwriter for upcoming deals should give us an early heads up when our chance may finally arrive.
Best Online Brokers for IPO Investing
I created a new page on the site to highlight online brokers that give IPO access to certain investors. Check out the best online brokers for IPO investing by clicking this link.
I’ve added the usual suspects and linked to eligibility requirements. Expect to see more detailed content in the future as I do more research and get feedback from readers.
One reader informed me that both Fidelity and Etrade are rather tight in allowing access to IPOs for eligible customers. He said he’s been denied shares the last 15-20 IPOs, even though he fits the eligibility requirements! That’s the kind of information that needs to be shared so we aren’t spinning our wheels.
I’d like to get more feedback like this so we can determine which brokers really are the best, and what expectations investors should have when requesting shares in an offering.
The intent of this site is to move beyond Loyal3 and Motif Investing, to include brokers with deeper ties to underwriters. Brokers like Fidelity and TD Ameritrade have been providing access to IPOs for wealthier clients for many years. We’d love to see these brokers lower their standards, if you will, to include the smaller investors. Access IPOs will be an advocate for broader access to opportunities.
Click on the blog page to see the latest content. As more IPOs hit the investable marketplace, content here will grow.
Subscribers to the Access IPOs email list will automatically receive new blogs posts to their inbox. This is a traditional blog, complete with email list, RSS feed, categories and tags. It’s the best way I know to get timely and organized content out to readers. Compared to the old pages, this format should be drastically better at delivering the information you want.
The Education link both on the home page and the main website menu is a category item. Meaning any blog post filed as Education will be viewable here. Other initial categories include News, Insight, Brokers, Advocacy and Liveblog.
I’m working on a longer form blog post about methods for investing in IPOs that will be filed in Education. Keep an eye out for that future post.
The Future and Feedback from You
I’ll be adding features to this site as it matures, and even more when the broader IPO markets recover. One possible improvement is a forum or Facebook group where investors can share their own experiences with others. A forum is preferred because information contained within would be searchable for the broader investing community.
A forum was planned for the original launch of Access IPO, but configuring it was holding back the rest of the development. If you have any feedback on the idea of a forum or Facebook group, I’d appreciate hearing from you.
For that matter, if there’s anything else you like to get out of this website, please… send me a note to let me know. If our community can benefit and it’s technically feasible, I’ll be sure to enhance the site with your idea.

Thanks, and welcome to Access IPOs.
