About Impulse Space
Impulse Space is a “last mile” space logistics startup that designs and builds vehicles that carry satellites from launch to their final orbits.
Tom Mueller started the company in 2021. He was SpaceX’s first propulsion expert hire and a longtime rocket engine designer.
Its primary vehicles include the Mira (has already flown), a small orbital transfer vehicle that propels satellites into the right locations, and Helios, a bigger vehicle designed to deliver heavy payloads much farther and out to high orbits.
The company is headquartered in Redondo Beach, California, with a facility in the Mojave Desert.
Rivals include Rocket Lab, Firefly, and D-Orbit, though Impulse stands out for pairing current fast delivery capabilities with deep-space ambition.
If demand for flexible in-space delivery continues to grow, Impulse Space could become a go-to last-mile carrier, with Mars missions as a longer-term goal.
Ownership
Impulse Space is a venture-backed startup owned by its founders, employees, and multiple venture capital firms.

IPO Potential
The Impulse Space IPO is likely multiple years away if it isn’t acquired before then.
The space economy is in the early stages of hypergrowth, largely dependent on SpaceX’s timeline to accelerate Starship launches.
Once SpaceX has reached a regular launch cadence and reusability of both the booster and Starship itself, launch costs will fall dramatically.
That will open up more opportunities for Impulse to deploy its capabilities. And since the founder was a very early SpaceX employee, he has connections with Elon Musk and company to capitalize on the acceleration of the space economy.
Other small space companies have started to IPO or SPAC, and there could be a coming wave of more space-related IPOs including Axiom Space, Relativity, Starcloud, and Sierra Space.
But for now, private capital is plentiful, so many of these mainly aim to achieve higher growth before going public.
An S-1 filing is the most accurate sign that an IPO may be forthcoming. The intent to move forward with an IPO is usually leaked to the press long before the S-1 filing becomes available to the public.
How to Invest in Impulse Space Stock
At this stage of valuation, pre-IPO shares may start to become available on various pre-IPO and secondary platforms.
Investors can also watch the leading venture capital funds, that may acquire shares for fund investors.
Here are some potential options to own Impulse Space stock before, during, and after the IPO.
1. Invest Pre-IPO
Pre-IPO investment platforms may offer Impulse Space stock for purchase as employees or early investors seek to sell some of their shares before the Impulse Space IPO.
Accredited investors may access shares, provided they are registered on the platform and receive notifications about their availability.
Monitor pre-IPO investing platforms such as Augment, EquityZen, Nasdaq Private Markets, Forge Global, and Clarity for share availability. Check out the list of best pre-IPO invest platforms.
If shares become available, expect to pay at least a $10,000 investment minimum, often more.
Non-accredited investors can invest in pre-IPO companies via venture capital funds targeted at retail investors.
2. Participate in the Impulse Space IPO through a broker
When a company eventually goes public, ordinary investors can sometimes buy the stock during the IPO at the IPO price.
Several online brokers have built this capability into their platforms, unlocking access that was once reserved for Wall Street’s best customers.

3. Buy Impulse Space stock after the IPO
Most retail and institutional investors will have to wait until after the IPO to participate.
The wait can be advantageous. After the first few months of trading, Wall Street has more established financials to work with.
This makes analysis more attainable compared to pre-IPO investing. High-demand companies sometimes IPO at a premium to fair value.
So if you don’t have access to the IPO, it can be dangerous to chase a hot deal.
Investors who access IPO shares can come out ahead, but those who hold on too long can get hurt when the price settles back to a fair value.
Price dips in the weeks or months following the IPO can be a good entry point. But avoid buying overvalued shares immediately after the IPO, since lockup expirations (when pre-IPO investors can sell) can deflate prices.
That said, the most disruptive companies take a decade or more to reach their potential, so patience in the right name can pay off.
Conclusion
Impulse Space builds the vehicles that carry satellites (and potentially other useful spacecraft) from launch to their final orbits. Its founder, Tom Mueller, an early SpaceX employee with deep experience in space propulsion, leads the startup.
The company is still private, so no public shares or ticker exist, and an IPO is likely several years off.
Pre-IPO platforms and retail-focused venture funds offer the only investment access to date, but each carries limits on feasibility, who qualifies, and fees.
Waiting until after the listing gives investors validated financials from which to base their investments.
Impulse’s fortunes may be tied to how quickly SpaceX brings launch costs down, so anyone weighing a position should follow Starship progress as closely as the company’s own milestones.
Treat the company’s growth as a long-term story, and watch for news reports and an S-1 filing as the most reliable signals that a public offering is near.
